Hi Everyone and welcome back to travel in 2021 in China. This time let's explore Weizhou, the beaches and take a ride trough the countryside and villages, so we hit the road.

Weizhou (simplified Chinese: 涠洲镇; traditional Chinese: 潿洲鎮; pinyin: Wéizhōu Zhèn) is a town of Haicheng District, Beihai, Guangxi, People's Republic of China. The town comprises two Gulf of Tonkin islands: Weizhou Island and a smaller 1.89 square kilometres Xieyang Island (斜阳岛), covering an area of 26.63 km2 and with a population of 15,900. It includes 2 neighborhood committees, 9 village committees. As of 2011, it has 2 residential communities (社区) and 9 villages under its administration.

Weizhou was formed over 10,000 years ago by volcanic eruptions, making it the youngest and largest volcanic island in China. It is just 67 kilometres (about 36 nautical miles) from Beihai City Port and, like Beihai, benefits from luxuriously hot subtropical weather.

Additionally there's a Military Base on the Island but it's unknown for me if it is still in use. my guess is that the Island is a strategic spot during wartime.
