Symptome Coronavirus: So schmerzhaft kann Covid-19 verlaufen. Als extrem unangenehm und schmerzhaft beschreibt die erkrankte Britin Tara Jane Langston Covid-19 auf Facebook. Im Video warnt sie junge Menschen davor, das Virus nicht ernst zu nehmen.


Für Menschen, die fürchten, sich mit dem Coronavirus infiziert zu haben, hat die Kassenärztliche Vereinigung (KV) Thüringen eine Website geschaltet. Dort lässt sich anhand eines Schemas nachvollziehen, ob man als möglicherweise Infizierter in Frage kommt und sich testen lassen sollte, wie die KV Thüringen am Montag mitteilte. Auf der Website www.kvt.de wird zudem unter dem Stichwort «Patienten» über das weitere Vorgehen informiert, wenn man dem Schema nach infiziert sein könnte. Auch auf Hotlines, Infektionsschutzmaßnahmen sowie Informationen zum öffentlichen Leben in Thüringen wird dort verwiesen.

Weiterhin gelte auch die zentrale Rufnummer 116117, allerdings appelliert die KV Thüringen dazu, diese Nummer zu entlasten: «Wählen Sie die 116117 nur, wenn Sie tatsächlich Symptome für eine Infektion mit dem Coronavirus aufweisen! Halten Sie die Leitungen für alle frei, die reguläre Dienste des ärztlichen Bereitschaftsdienstes in Anspruch nehmen müssen!»


A 39-year-old COVID-19 patient hospitalised in London has spoken of her distress in a video posted on social media, issuing a stark warning to others to "not take any chances." Waitress Tara Jane Langston was described by her husband Richard as a healthy, gym-going non-smoker, who happened to be "unlucky."

She was recently admitted to the intensive care unit at Hillingdon Hospital in West London with COVID-19. Coughing and seemingly in pain, Langston said that she was "actually ten times better" at the time of filming than previously, and urged others to stop smoking and not take any chances.

According to her husband Richard, she did not have to be sedated or ventilated. He added that she initially made the video for her work colleagues, and did not intend for the clip to go viral. On Friday, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed that although older people are hardest hit by the coronavirus, "younger people are not spared.”

He said data from many countries shows people aged 50 and under make up a “significant proportion” of patients who need hospitalisation. For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. For some, especially but not exclusively older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia.

The majority of people recover from the new virus. According to the World Health Organization, people with mild illness recover in about two weeks, while those with more severe illness may take three to six weeks to recover.
