To use your Original Apple SSD as a USB drive you need the following adapters:
1. https://amzn.to/2n2z2Nx for apple SSD to be converted to M.2 connector
2. any SSD enclosure that takes a M.2 considering the 1. item will be kind of bulky you can use this open type of USB https://amzn.to/2mZoajj. If you want it to be in an enclosed type of case like USB you will have to shop by mostly none of them will fit.

To Create a Bootable USB drive with High Sierra you should, Open terminal and type this command :
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app
