Intel's 10900K is barely available, and now the 10850K has landed around the same price but with 100MHz lower clocks. We're reviewing & benchmarking the i9-10850K vs. 10900K, 3900X, & more.

The new Intel Core i9-10850K CPU is a 10-core, 20-thread part that is effectively the same as an Intel i9-10900K, which we previously reviewed, except 100MHz slower. In our experience thus far, with a limited sample size, there is no meaningful difference in overclocking behavior between the two units; it is possible that a difference emerges somewhere, but unlikely that it will be meaningful. 100MHz isn't much, so we're benchmarking these two to see how they perform. If you can't find a 10900K in stock, the 10850K may be the primary alternative -- and this piece will help guide you toward decisions as to which CPU is the best gaming CPU in 2020 (so far), and alternatively, toward which AMD Ryzen CPU might be the best choice for non-gaming workloads.
