Starting from June 1st, 2021, any new photos or videos we upload to Google Photos will be counted towards our 15 GB free storage which comes with our Google Account.

Any photos or videos backed up before June 1st will be still considered free and exempt from the storage limit.

After June 1st 2021, we may have to buy cloud storage from Google which gets started from 130 indian rupees per month for 100 GB of storage.

So, without further delay, let's quickly learn how to backup our memories to Google Photos both from the Mobile and PC , right away for free..

First, on your mobile, open Google Photos app. As soon as it opens, an important update notification would be shown at the top, click on Learn more to check the details about the storage policy changes after June 1st 2021.

We can directly go to backup settings from this page, or else we can click on our profile picture and choose account storage for backup and sync settings.

Under these settings .Make sure Backup and Sync is enabled. and under Upload size choose High Quality, for free unlimited storage until 1st june 2021. Because original quality upload would be counted towards our 15 GB free storage.

Now click on Backup device folders to go through the list of your device folders, and enable the folders which you wish to backup to Google Photos. Such as whats app images. By default Camera folder would be automatically backed up. Go back to the status and ensure backup is completed. Make sure to connect to a wifi network to avoid data cap issues.Now our photos from mobile are successfully backed up to Google Photos.

From PC, browse to photos.google.com, If we have limited photos to backup, we can just drag and drop the photos from the folder to the browser. Once upload is finished we can add them to an album for easy access.

If we have a large number of files to be uploaded, it's better to use the desktop uploader. Browse to the URL photos.google.com/apps, link is provided in the description. Click on the Download button to install the desktop uploader.

Lets, click on get started, and login with our google account, As we are only uploading Photos and Videos lets choose Backup photos and videos, choosing all file types may backup other file types to the Google Drive which would be counted towards our 15 GB free storage.


Before choosing the folder for backup, we must make sure High Quality is selected, Now let's click on Choose folder to choose our RishiKushi Channel folder for backup.

By clicking on start, installation gets completed. It also asked to enable a chrome extension . Once enabled, Backup and Sync application from Google is placed in the system tray, lets click on it to access it.

It first scans for the files and starts uploading photos and videos to the google photos.

So if you have very large video or photos to backup please start backing it up to Google Photos right away, because Starting from June 1st, 2021, any new photos or videos we upload to Google Photos will be counted towards our 15 GB free storage which comes with our Google Account.

But, If you have any Pixel devices, photos uploaded from it won’t be impacted. Photos and videos uploaded in High quality from Pixel device will continue to be exempt from this change, even after June 1, 2021.

Other alternatives to Google Photos such as Amazon Photos are expected to be launched in India soon , but it may be specific to Amazon Prime members.

Right now we can also use Microsoft Onedrive or Jio Cloud, But Google Photos is well integrated with the Android Ecosystem. After June 1st 2021, we may have to buy cloud storage from Google which starts from 130 indian rupees per month for 100 GB of storage, So, without further delay backup your favorite memories to Google Photos right away for free….
